Bill Gates finds it too sexy; do you?- The Economic Times
Good article on the future of Tablet PCs.
It’s a PC that is virtually without limits, and within five years, I predict it will be the most popular form of PC sold in America.”
Gates at the Comdex show in Las Vegas in 2001 where he displayed a prototype tablet PC ahead of its launch in 2002.
It was Bill Gates’ pet passion. And despite its lacklustre show, it still remains. Although tablet PCs have failed to break into mainstream computing yet, Gates remains its strongest supporter: he still believes in the design and recently repeated a prediction that, with better hardware and software, it could still dominate over traditional laptops.
While domination may be far-off, the segment has been definitely witnessing some buzz — globally as well as locally — after remaining dormant for almost close to three years.
Product innovations (read: convertible tablets), backing of tablet-PC specific software and drop in prices have led to a resurgence of publicity, and some volume growth.
